Sorry for the capitalised title, but i thought i'd get your attention ;D

Anyway, really hoping some of you techie guys can just check something over for me. I'm going to set up my internet connection across the house using homeplugs. I haven't got a router or any homeplugs yet, just a standard modem plugged into the computer. So, i'll post the links below of the products i'm potentially going to buy, and i'd appreciate it if you'd point out any problems if there are any (incompatibility, terrible speeds being given etc.) So here are the homeplugs and router i'm looking at getting (*note* money is an issue here ;S)

Router

Any other details needed, just post, and i'll get right back to you.

Thanks in advance for the help :)

As i said, only need it really for the computer downstairs and Xbox. I know the computer's going to go slower when the Xbox is on at the same time, but that's not a problem (to a certain degree). Just i've wasted my gold membership this year, i've barely used it xD

I can't really suggest anything properly mate. Think Hmmm... is definately the authority on this at the moment.

I know a couple of good ones, like our special Philips. But to be honest there may be better for your purpose.

Thanks for the replies :) Is it worth getting a decent router then, as i really just want a basic connection upstairs. As long as it connects and isn't too laggy, i don't really mind lol.

Best bit of advice I can give here

Get a PS3.......

On a serious note though, think Hmmm.... has pretty much covered everything. Well everything important anyway.

Morning,
Have you read pb's Homeplug review, might be useful for you...?

But you can't beat a bit of CAT5, especially for gaming so run a cable to any games machines if you can.

As for the router - I wouldn't go for the cheapest myself as router choice can make a huge difference.

I'm a fan of Broadcom based routers (Speedtouch 585v6, Netgear DG834v4, DG834GT, etc.) - the longer your phone line the more important router choice is. If you are next door to your exchange you might be able to get away with a bit of 'wet string' but most people aren't that lucky.

My DG834GT was bought from eBay for £15 so there's not much difference in price to the one you link to. It was an ex-SKY one that had to have the firmware flashed to unlock it.
