There are some very mixed opinions on this one.

Some say microsoft can only be a good thing, when Sony came they introduced a whole new audience to gaming and got rid of its chold like image. Microsoft being the biggest company in the world an' all, im sure could make more than a few more changes.

But what kind of changes, will they spice up the competition forcing down prices and raising the quality of games which we all hope they can do?

or will they take over the market completely like they've done with windows on the pc, giving gamers a lack of choice and a lot of bug ridden software.

or will they sell no machines and realise that throwing money at a black breezeblock doesn't make it anymore attractive!

I don't think if Microsoft don't blow the industry away then Nintendo will gain a lot of lost ground and the Sony Vs Nintendo fight will be a lot tighter, much like when Nintendo took on Sega, and we know who won there...

Ok, people may have different views about the xbox but i wouldn't pay more than £20 for it. From what I've heard and seen it has alot more polagons than the PS2 but who cares when it jumps every 10 seconds and can't handle them all on screen at the same time. My PSX crashed once it all the years i had it and that was when i highlighted every xplorer code on the cartridge hehe, and it totally buggered itself but the xbox sounds like it's very unrealiable like a standard PC and is just unforgivable if it crashes during gameplay.

It has the same programming lanquage as a PC which basically means PC game publishers will be the main ones working on it but other console companies are making games for it it's just there not very good. Them microsoft fellas on cybernet just talk aload of gibberish about specs and a new "revolution" when they forget that people can actually see for themselves.

I think Sony and Nintendo have it lined up nicely for the next few years but i still reckon Microsoft will be the one's left behind.

This is making remarkably similar points to my "BIAS IN THIS FORUM" topic from ages ago... basically saying that people don't know anything about the Xbox, yet hate it simply because it has the word "Microsoft" on it!

Infact the Xbox is a much more powerful version of the Dreamcast, which any knowledgable person with a brain will realise was a great console with fantastic games..

The only doubt I have about the Xbox is the lack of killer games. However, even Sony and Ninty have this problem... Sony seem to be waiting for MGS2, while Ninty failed to show any killer aps at E3.

I don't know why, but I seem to have an inbuilt hatred of Microsoft for some reason. Over the years I have owned only Sony and Sega consoles, never a Nintendo and therefore, Sega and Sony are my obvious favourite big names in games. But now I would rather Sony and Sega drop out of the gaming market altogether and for Nintendo to dominate rather than for Microsoft to have their way, Damn them.

One things for sure, I will never ever buy the X-box. Now if only the other 60 million people in the country thought this way...ahhh yes a £500million advertising campaign should just about brainwash the population into not buying the X-box.

Now where am I going to get hold of that sort of Money?

Oi Bill, how about a loan, geek-boy? ;-)

it dont look too bright for the x-box but...Its microsoft aint it? This company is full of cash, full of ideas. CAn they really fail? I think they are just too big to fail in the console market. I cant see a three way split in the console market though. One of them has got to go down becasue the market share will not be split into three equal pieces. Not unless the gaming market becomes even bigger than it is now. Maybe microsoft entering the console market may just entice more people to enter the world of gaming. Maybe just maybe....
