My friend came round and some how managed with some artic silver and a big FOP fan to get it from 700mhz to... 1 Ghz!! This is like a celeron and I'm amazed at how he did it. I was gobsmacked. The computer may now make a hell of a lot of sound as the fan rotates at whatever it is miles per hour but it runs so smooth and fast!
Overclocking is good. Many of us have been indoctrinated to believe our computers will bust when you fiddle around in it but the truth is - I watched it and it looked easy. Surely people should be taught how to overclock PC's - how about an "overclocking for dummies" book. So many people would like us to believe it damages our computer etc.. yes it does BUT only if you don't know what you are doing. So what do you think? Do you think there should be more information on overclocking as I'm very for it right now. I'd like to hear all your opinions on overclocking etc..
PS. I was going to just talk about this anyway but I noticed the new gameaday and since overclocking contains clock well.. you know the rest ;-)

Celerons have always been the best cpu for overclocking, most reaching 50% more speeds with simple basic cooling because you are simply changing the under rated Front side bus from 66 to 100, which 100 is poor and stupid
and standard cooling is due to the fact that intel cpus immit only 40watts of heat, while the athlons emitt 80watts of heat, so any heatsink/fan providing its rated up to say 250mhz more than what you want to overclock it to will do
Also due to the complexicity of the actual cpu, intel CPUs tend not to need more voltage than an Athlon/pentium cpu, because they have less cache, Some I have seen to be running @ 900 with 1.55v, its amazing.
So therefore Celerons rock, and I shall always maintane my principle if you have to buy intel, buy celeron :p
My new(ish) one is 750@950mhz, don't tend to bother so much with ram/graphics cards, not so much experience with the boundaries and the amount you can safely push them is so small that there isn't usually much of a difference.
You've got me started now, off to look at aluminium 5-fan cases..
