OXM's news today says that Microsoft have officially dropped the retail price of the Xbox in the UK to just £99.99 - so it looks like the Christmas price spats are starting early this year. Going to be interesting to see if Sony and Nintendo follow on with this because I don't see how the PS2 can be £40 more than the Xbox given it's age.

Combine this with Halo 2 and the host of other games and maybe Microsoft will do really really well this Christmas.

Worth noting the Xbox drop is not effective until 27th August though, whilst the PS2 one is immediately.

Apparently Nintendo will "not be dropping the price of the Gamecube"...

Going on what they said this time last year and the year before that translates at...

"Expect a £30 price drop at around October time".

Ofcourse, Eurogamer speak for the retailers and Sony.

In the store to which I am leaving this time next week to never return (yay!) the prices aren't changing until tomorrow.

So Eurogamer can jump off a bridge for all I care.

Doesn't everything really happen on friday's in relation to games.

Or thursday depending on if the retailer is being naughty.

Arn't Microsoft already losing $100 on every console sold?
Edgy, why you leaving game, you talk about it enough, I thought you loved it! The Xbox drop, £100, for just the console? Its gonna be more with games, but I don't think it'll beat the deal i brought, £140with 4 games in December 03
