Played Pokémon Fire/Leaf Pikmin 2 - looking pretty nice (still not as nice as a full 3D version would be Nintendo). There's now a thing which, when you start up your save, recounts the last few events you did in a series of black and white photos.
Pikmin 2.. very cool - made some Purple Pikmin, found an Orange, and learnt I could now carry a Pikmin around on my back :D). Wario Ware against my mate (still trying to work out the rules of one of the two-player games) and Donkey Konga which was a blast.. it's harder than it looks. Animal Crossing was there too, but I got that almost two years ago, when it should have come out here. Some kid had posted "f***" on the town noticeboard and Nintendo people were running around trying to erase it. Of course, you can't :)
Not too crowded, thankfully most of the kids were more distracted by Harry Potter and Spyro: Generic Platformer #44. It was pretty ridiculous though, "SEE ALL NEW NINTENDO GAMES!" shouted the handout thing, one of them listed? Wind Waker which has been out over a year and Mario Kart which has been out ten months. I know Nintendo need to display their third party support, but more room should have been devoted to new first-party titles. Wario Ware, Animal Crossing and Pikmin 2 had only one stand each. And if they wanted to show third-party support, where were games that would appeal more to an older audience? No Second-Sight, no new EA games. No Metroid Prime 2. That would have pulled in the crowds. Except, all games showed there had to have a family ESRB rating. *Sighs*
We should all be glad Nintendo is doing *something* for publicity, but what with games like "throw the banana through the hole" and "toss the beanie Pikmin into the flower bucket" Nintendo are only publicising more that they're more for kids. Not helpful for winning the money from the older gamers who are be put off by this image.
:D
