When pete, our Freeola Bargain Hunter posted the Pure & Lego Batman deal at around £8 delivered I was excited about picking up this title. I have always enjoyed the mindless fun you get with these extreme sports games which are heavy on the tricks! Pure is no exception in this genre, while you normally think of Snowboarding, Skating and even Motorbikes. Pure puts you, the rider on your very own ATV which you build from scratch and then win new parts to improve the performance of it. A concept most of the games take, whereby you proceed through various tracks and aim to finish first and earn new equipment to increase your stats and make you a better competitor.
Pure is not a new game but is still one of the newer games in this genre. The graphics are really nice, the environments are detailed, the riders are animated and when you make a bad landing or hit something your rider will fall rather really life-like. The ATVs move about as you go through the tracks and will bounce up on uneven surfaces, so for what is not a very cheap game and something you would expect to not look so polished, this game really does look the part. I especially like the attention to detail as you ride about your ATV and find both you and your vehicle become dirtier.
The controls are simple enough and the game makes you play a tutorial you have to pass in order to get anywhere in the game, bad news if your terrible and cant get past this hurdle but it really will not cause any hassle for gamers. The game is very easy to pick up and play and the first few races are challenging but not too hard, coming in 1st place is not as hard as you would imagine, the later tracks become harder to navigate and the riders more difficult to beat, so upgrading your ATV is essential to get further. But the challenge and difficult rise steadily and most people will play through comfortably and enjoy the experience.
Doing tricks is a key part to succeeding in game and the tricks are set at levels, you use the analogue stick and A to do simple tricks and builds up a gauge up, to unlock using B, and then Y. Once the bar is full you can perform special tricks for big points and when tricks are landed you will find you get about quicker than not doing them. The bar you fill up can also be used to give a speed boost to beat the competition. Very handy if you find yourself lacking in speed in early tracks, so it is good to get used to performing tricks.
The concept is simple and nothing new, but it is a genre i love playing and have a lot of fun with, the biggest shame is that i have not been able to find a game online, this game is a great one to play with friends! I was very pleasantly surprised with the game, the graphics, the controls and how it all came together to be one of my favourite games in this genre. For the price it is i really have to suggest you pick it up and give it a go, anyone who enjoys a simple game to play and one that you will find yourself getting lost in for sometime, will have a lot of fun with this title.

Traded in when it was still £15 or so, so I know I can get it back later and will have made some money too!
