That advert ... Red Steel. They've tried so hard to make some guy look 'cool' waving a white controller about his living room like a pistol and then a sword, but there's no escaping the fact he looks a complete t!t ... sorry mate that vest and trendy haircut won't save you.
Are all the games you play on those things like that then, or can you play with a normal controller? Forgive my ignorance, I'd look it up but can't really be bothered at the mo', so I thought I'd ask you nice people, and maybe stir up some conversation in the process ... :)

What is your fave controller from any console from any era? Mine is the N64 pad, loved it, you could play Goldeneye with one hand and still look cool ;D

It's amazing. No, I haven't even come within sight of a Wii myself yet! I regularly contribute to a site of online Woodworking forums and the guys there - averaging late 30s-early 40s I'd guess... - after one thread appear with brief mention of the Wii, everyone's come out as a secret gamer!

I have enough to get one and was considering it since I was in a 'what the hell - this'll be fun for christmas' mood. however they're all sold-out of course so I'll just pick up Burnout Revenge or something instead.
Then of course there'll be more 360 stuff to play in Jsnuary like Lost Planet and Crackdown!

My Dad also wants a Wii, he's seen clips of the golf game in action. Then I told him it also contained a Bowling game on the same disc - he was sold for sure.
My Dad wants a Wii. Last game he played was probably After Burner on my Master System about 15 years ago, but now he wants a Wii. I'm impressed that anybody came up with an advert that sucked him into wanting to play video games.

You can play the old Virtual Console games in the standard way, but then since the whole idea of the Wii revolves around the new controller, it would be pointless to make games with only standard controller settings.
And, trust me, it does work. It provides a far more interactive method of control than just pressing a button or moving a small analogue controller. However, you don't need to make such sweeping actions as the guy in the ad (and if you think that's bad, see the ads on Youtube for Metroid), you can sit on the sofa and just move it slightly instead, but where's the fun in that?
