Synopsis from the official site http://www.evilplanet.com

"In this strategy / simulation game created by Elixir Studios, the player assumes the role of an evil mastermind bent on achieving global domination through the construction of the ultimate doomsday device. Build a secret base, gain infamy and notoriety by completing daring missions, repel the forces of justice in real-time combat and develop evil super weapons to complete a nefarious master plan. Evil Genius is a tongue-in-cheek take on the 60's spy thriller genre offering the player the chance to play the villain himself and control a secret island fortress complete with powerful henchmen, loyal minions and a wide range of hilarious gizmos, gadgets and traps."

I actually laughed at that bit. I've never laughed at a game before...

Superb. I was disappointed with the fact that it was the tutorial level and not a full blown mission, but what was on offer managed to impress me. Think Dungeon Keeper mixed with No One Lives Forever and add a bit of the Sims (The good bits) and you're close to how Evil Genius plays.

Manage your own 60s super villain underground lair, train minions, fight off agencies from around the world and capture and interrogate and/or gloat at secret agents. I particularly liked the interrogation bits, where minions tortured prisoners by dancing like Michael Jackson.

There’s humour aplenty, good graphics and a catchy theme tune on the main menu. I'll defiantly be getting this one.

Nice one. The management genre seems to be getting some decent games at last, Evil Genius, Locomotion, The Movies and Rollercoaster Tycoon 3. Pity these games will be over looked when that crapfest The Sims 2 is released.
