Now I know what you are thinking. "Sigh, time to give an answer to generic FAQ post #12366432", but it's always nice to get a second opinion from people on this forum.

Anyway, the main question here is, is Xbox Live really worth paying £40 a year for? Honest answers please, I can't exactly afford to keep paying for something that might be a little tedious.

+ Why can't you use a damn Solo card for it?

Yes, very much so, if you like playing games all the time, or love Mr T.

And Solo is gey, get Visa!

It's worth it for Mr T alone

EDIT - serious answer - yes it's well worth the money. The Xbox Live community is so vast, there's always someone different to play and nobody is a nob (excluding 90% of USA Live members). There's so much choice too - it's not all FPS's. Rally, Tennis, Snowboarding, Ice Hockey, Basketball, American Football, Real Football etc. Even RPG's like Magic: The Gathering and Phantasy Star Online.

Trust me - you'll kick yourself for not getting it sooner.

I would say Halo 2 will probably have an affect on how much it is worth it, i have played Halo online through whatever software it was and that was f***ing awesum.

Hang abouts, no Solo? What about Visa Electron? Switch?

Hmmm.

It's just irritating the fact that Solo is not accepted.

It does explicitly say on the Microsoft Website you need a "credit/debit card", well would you look at that. Microsoft are dirty liars! My Solo card is a perfectly viable debit card! Sigh, now I have to go and explain to my parents that "I need their credit card", which will take hours of pointless explanation, and they'll be reluctant to do anything that might involve "giving their details on a video games console".

Sigh.

I'll still push my way and get it though :P

The only Live enabled games I have at the moment are Midtown Madness 3 and Project Gotham Racing 2.

As long as you have a strong tolerance level for gimps and sweaty gypsy kids then yup it's definetly worth it.

I have a feeling this Xmas is gonna cement Live into the 'must buy' category. At the moment it's just good fun occasionally, but I see Halo 2 amongst other games totally eating up my spare time this Xmas.

Listening to American kiddies was never a problem with the PS2 online; the games restricted you to playing only those in the same country/region (Europe), which on the whole was OK. But it usually resulted in 3 or 4 users online at its peak.

Yes it really is worth every penny of it. Imagine being able to play multiplayer of some of your favourite games, whenever you want. Because that is it basically.

If you aren't sure, get a free trial from somewhere. Although you won't then have a headset which does make a difference. More fun when you can talk to people you know online.
