I believe that he doesn't deserve the CBE honour because he is a tool!
For someone who kicked Neil Lennon in the face and got away with it by blackmailing the FA should not be honoured. It was stated that he told the FA that if they fine or ban him he would play in Euro 2000. And what did the FA do, nothing apart from a quick visit to FA headquarters to have his hands slapped.
Also what has he achieved, apart from a big fat cheque each week from Newcastle, Golden boot in Euro 96 and the erd leadng scorer in England history. That is nothing in modern day, what are the people thinking of honouring him!

I think he does he has acheived great things for his country and has probably donemuch in recovering britains football. I think it is good that achievement is being rewarded in this country.

And what did he actually achive in his career anyway? one league championship at blackburn and that Little le tournoi thing in france before the world cup. He deserves credit for winning blackburn the championship. It was a one man team really (look what happened to blackburn after they sold him).
