It's no surprise that THAW has now been upgraded to a Platinum game; It's very well made, and it is much harder to "break out" of the game than other games. You can earn money, spend it, get pros to be on your skate team, customize your character COMPLETELY (Hair, skin colour, face, scale, clothes, etc. You can even put your face on the skater using an Eyetoy camera or online setup.). It is a completely free skate world, so you just hop from one level to another seamlessly with no inter-level loading. You can play Story mode, Classic mode, Create mode, VS. Mode, and even online play, providing you buy the online play disc and upload it prior to gameplay.
In Classic mode, you play in a single, original "Tony Hawk" style level with original challenges such as high score runs, collect S-K-A-T-E, etc.
In create mode, you can build your character for free skate and classic mode, build a skate park, invent a trick, or you can make a graffiti tag for free skate mode.
In story mode, you select which difficulty you want and play the story, building your stats as you go. After completing a level of difficulty in story mode, you unlock characters to use in free skate.
Vs. Mode is where you can play against a friend, (providing you have another PS2 remote) competeing in head to head challenges or just bimbling around a bit.
