On some games you press a few buttons and a cheat console will come up for you to put your cheats in but for some reson none of the games ive got will let me use it.

You use the Tilde key to bring up console in many games, the button left of the number 1 key, should have this symbol on it: ¬
However, on some games you need to activate it first by changing the command line of the shortcut. Sounds complicated but it's fairly straightforward.
Try out the Tilde key on whatever games it is you are trying to bring the console up on, and if it doesn't work come back here and we‘ll see what we can sort out.
