Have you ever been into see a film at the cinema, and when you come out you want to do what happened in the film?

Prime examples of this are Gone in 60 seconds. After watching it me and my mate who I saw it with had an urge to go and nick a car.

After seeing The Matrix we wanted to break into the army headquarters aplenty with guns, without the fear of dieing.

And after watching American Pie, I wanted to go and... well you know!

Films can put even more pressure on you to do something you've seen in them than videogames can. Everybody says some various crimes can be blamed at videogames like Goldeneye, MGS, or Perfect Dark. But did they think about the film aspect?

I put this to the test. I played a 1 hour session of PD, and also went to the cinema to watch Get Over It!(not at the same time though!).

The results are as follows:

Perfect Dark
At the end I was happy to come off. It got boring. I didn't want to hunt down a gun so I could kill. In fact, I felt better - I had taken out my stress on the dumb guards - but I also felt angry - my sister came up to as I left my room, and I stressed at her for no reason at all. But overall, no urge to kill anyone. PASS

Get over it!
This was strange. I left the cinema with that feeling of satisfaction that you ususally get after watching a good movie. Then I saw a couple by the entrance, I wanted what they had. I felt sorry for myself because at this moment I am single, and what they were enjoying made me envious. PASS/FAIL

Overall Get Over It caused more problems than PD, but didn't cause as much as I expected.

This proves that films influence you more than videogames can and do. Well, this is by my studies anyway! You might get different results.

I would have to disagree with you there!

So if you watched 'Saving Private Ryan' you would want to go to war and blow people up etc?

I can see what you mean some films leave an effect on you, and you would like to be that person maybe!

Like Indiana Jones etc..

As long as you don't actually go out an do it then you can think about being that person.
