. . . But I can't afford a proper one - the good ones are at least 1000 pounds, and replacement bulbs cost around the 200 - 400 pound mark - bulbs only last 1000 hours so its not very cheap to run :)

I've been playing my Xbox games on a friend’s projector, and boy, its good. 4 Player split screen on a 50 inch isn’t all that bad really - and Silent Hill 4 would be s**t scary if you had the right sound system too.

So - I have an itch for a projector, I just don’t have the wallet.
http://uk.special.reserve.co.uk/q_GG5033_mega_pro_game_proj.html this is one I can afford.

The bulbs for this projector cost around a tenner to replace; it’s a real poor mans projector don’t you think? Does anybody know anything about this or better still - does anybody have it? I can't find any information about it on Google anyway - I think SR are the only people who sell it in the UK !

I wouldn’t want to blow the picture up to all proportions; I think 40 inch would do nicely, and my tall, long, white walls would accommodate one nicely. A Big Screen, 5.1 sound and Xbox Live would be how you say ... "sweet"

Any Information?

Aye, I'm going to invest in a nice new Big-Screener in the near future. I've got a 28" at the moment and it's great, but at the rate these new Plasma TVs are dropping in price, I might just have to get myself a nice 40/50/60" beast :D

Depends really, what you want it for. I got a projector for £2500, was expensive, but quality is fantastic, has a 2m screen, ideal for movies rather than games, but if you get one with good brightness (luminosity > 1000) quality should be as good as a tv if you have a good dark room, and split screen is definatly better having 35" screen each! :)

A mate of mine has both (the projector is supplied by work for his job). The projector is impressive, but the TV, though smaller, is far better, both in picture quality and practicality.

As far as I know, yes. I enquired some Months back into the same thing - they said I could return it even if it was opened - there was a time period though. Can't remember what it was though

Good point. So they have a no quibble guarantee then? Even if I’ve opened it, powered it and hated it i can still put it back in the box and send it back. Of course - I’d keep it in mint condition though ;)

Yeah, I don't see why not - and anyway, SR allow you to return it if it doesn't meet your needs.

So it would be good for night time gaming?

I only tend to play on my xbox after dark anyway - and with long nights coming up...

I was going to buy it until I decided against projectors altogether (that, and the fact that we never got the flat we were going to buy).

You need to have the room really dark to use it as it has a low Lumens brightness. Any light gets in and it'll mae the picture milky and faded.

If you can make a lightproof room - it's worth the money :)
