I love the game, but about 5 minutes ago I could have happily snapped the game disc in half, ground the pieces up with a mortar and pestle, then poured the contents down the outside drain, cackling mindlessly.
I'm on the mission 'the job', which I remembered finding quite easy when I had it on the PS2, but I must have attempted it 10 times or more tonight. I really wouldn't mind if it was my skill that was the problem, but I'm mainly failing it due to pathetic glitches.
I drive all the way from the Malibu Club to the bank, then halfway to the safe, Cam gets shot dead without warning. This happened about 5 times. Finally I find out who's doing it, stand in between Cam and the assailant, and act as a human shield as I unload my 357 on him.
Then I get to the vault, get told I have to get the manager, so off I go, find him cowering behind his desk, threaten him a bit. On the way back to the vault, he dies for no apparent reason. There was no-one en route to shoot him, or anywhere to fall, but that didn't stop the geezer from croaking. This happened twice.
And let's not go into just how infuriating it is once you get outside the bank and are surrounded by SWAT. This wouldn't be so bad if you didn't have the thickest most useless set of comrades to protect. They mince about, thinking about whether they should get into the getaway car, or what table would go with their three piece suite at home. When they finally leave 'la la' land and decide they don't want to die, they open the car doors to get in, but too late - a SWAT guy has already ragged me out of the drivers seat, where I am kicked to death on the pavement. Cheers you complete cretins.
In a fit of inspiration, I decide to smash all the doors off the car before i even visit the bank, using a 9 iron - the theory being it will shave seconds off the escape time. Shock horror, while I'm doing this, one of my comrades, waiting quietly on the pavement, DIES! Must have had a heart attack I can only assume. ARGH
A couple of times everything went to plan, and I got away in the car, but firepower and suicidal police drivers made sure I didn't get far, or at least my retarded friends didn't.
The closest I got, was when I drove into the spray booth, where my police wanted level is usually reduced to zero. Lo and behold, my wanted level did reduce to zero, but the police obviously hadn't been briefed, because as soon as the door opened, a SWAT van drove in, pinning my car against the back wall. A flurry of MP5 bullets courtesy of the occupiers of this vehicle ensured that my fate was sealed. We all perished in a (under normal conditions) impressive explosion.
God I hate that game sometimes.

I know I know but I wanted to sample the original before moving onto the better one, doing it the other way around would make the original seem poor and I wouldn't want to play it.
As it is though I don't want to play it anyway now so I'd best move onto VC.

This isn't normal behaviour.
Only played GTA3 so far.
GTA rocks, if a little, irritating at times.
And I have a CD player too! *pats self on back*
1) 80's sucked
2) I have a CD player. Ta-da!
It reminds me of vietnam.
