I honestly believe that Imagine by John Lennon is one of the best and most important songs ever written and performed, I'm sure many of you will agree with me about that. I'll tell you why:
The song is emotional, and more importantly truthful. Although, perhaps it has shows of sadness I believe that the song is very encouraging because it makes you think.
The song words, as you can probably tell are incredibly thought provoking. Read them out loud even sing them to yourself. I'm sure the song will strike a chord in you. ‘Imagine’ is a superb song - a song full of hope, and most importantly reflecting Lennon's lust for World Peace. I feel that the tone of the song is just right, and is both a 'feel good' song but shows a really important message to the world.
John Lennon was shot dead my Mark Chapman in New York 1980 and even today people pay tribute to him. This song was released in 1975, 1980 and also last year and sold millions of copies throughout the world. I do believe that this is the single most inspirational song in the world, and should be heard, sung, even cried by all who wish to do so.
It didn't matter that the song was a huge success, I'm sure the money had nothing to do with it - the message that the song sent out is the most important aspect. If you can take 5 minutes to think of the song words, "Imagine all there's no heaven/no countries/no possessions"
"Nothing to kill or die for,
And no religion too,"
I think that he's saying that it doesn't matter that we have different religions, and it shouldn't lead to people killing one another, what would the world be like if we were all the same? The fact that the song is called Imagine shows that his Dreams have not yet come true, I hope that they will, but to sing this song to the rest of the world is just inspiring to say the least.
"You may say I'm a dreamer,
But I'm not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will be as one."
This means that if everyone felt like he did and shared the same attitude then the possibility, the task of World Peace could some day be achieved.
John Lennon really lets it all out and opens up in this song to the benefit of many people. The song is accompanied by piano and contains no complex language, the simplicity of the words, emphasizes the complexity and importance of the message that they give out.

"Imagine there's no heaven,
Its easy if you try,
No hell below us
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people,
Living or today,
Imagine there’re no countries,
It isn't hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
And no religion too,
Imagine all the people,
Living life in peace,
You may say I'm a dreamer,
But I'm not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will be as one,
Imagine no possessions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for grief or hunger,
Or brotherhood of man,
Imagine all the people,
Sharing all the world,
You may say I'm a dreamer,
But I'm not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will be as one."

A few months ago, I watched the 100 greatest number-ones of all time - glad to see that this classic was at the top spot.
Play the song as often as you can. It is superb.
I dont know, someone singing "Imagine no possessions" in a huge house seatead at a Steinway seems a little...ironic.
Working Class Hero:
As soon as you're born they make you feel small
By giving you no time instead of it all
Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all
A working class hero is something to be
They hurt you at home and they hit you at school
They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool
Till you're so (bleeping) crazy you can't follow their rules
A working class hero is something to be
When they've tortured and scared you for twenty-odd years
Then they expect you to pick a career
When you can't really function you're so full of fear
A working class hero is something to be
Keep you doped with religion, sex and tv
And you think you're so clever and classless and free
But you're still (bleeping) peasants as far as I can see
A working class hero is something to be
There's room at the top they are telling you still
But first you must learn how to smile as you kill
If you want to be like the folks on the hill
A working class hero is something to be
If you want to be a hero well just follow me.
