Look at the wireless section of the Xbox Live FAQ. It has all the possibilities listed.

ADSL works only with one device connected at a time, so if you had a router in one room and used a modem in the other it wouldnt work. A friend at work said it depended on the ADSL provider, but in my experience and with what I know, only one device can be physically connected at a time.

So the best thing is to get a router and then run ethernet cable to each PC or go wireless depending on what you want to do.

hm. The BT gaming package comes with a ADSL Modem which has an ethernet connection already for the Xbox, does it not? Can you not get a wireless router, sans modem, that will do the trick? I'm asking because I'm having Broadband installed and have the opposite problem, the computer is in my study and the console in my lounge (for now, at least!).

Should still work as its still wireless, and yes it is needed as it will go into your XBox to link it wirelessly. The router that Damarus seleceted was for Cable where as the one I linked to was ADSL. Now which ever broadband you have you need to get the right router. Damarus's info on linking the 2 up is correct its just he linked to a Cable router while you said you have BT broadband which is ADSL.

Wont work with his broadband as he said he has BT which is ADSL, and this is a Cable router so will only work with Cable. You need to get a ADSL router which will be the same as the router in the link, but be equiped for ADSL and not Cable.

Look at something like http://uk.special.reserve.co.uk/q_GG1612_linksys_11__54_mbp.html Although you could get cheaper ones as this is a 4 port router, which means that you can attach up to 4 cables running to 4 PCs/Game consoles as well as using Wireless. If you only need the one connection and Wireless then go for a 1 port Wireless router as that should be cheaper.

This goes in your room connected to your xbox. http://uk.special.reserve.co.uk/q_GG8812_linksys_wet11_11_m.html

EDIT: 1st one comes with a cable although I'm unsure if the 2nd one does so you may need one of these also. http://uk.special.reserve.co.uk/q_GG8114_network_cable_2_me.html
