The predictions i made yesterday came true.

Boston Bruins 0-2 Detroit Redwings
Redwings took an early lead, and managed to shutout the Bruins, Osgood literally getting a shutout, saving 29 shots. 2 hit the post, so this match could've easily went to OT and penalties.

Tampa Bay Lightning 2-1 Toronto Maple Leafs
Expected a much bigger win from TBL, but the Maple Leafs managed to drag them into OT with a goal in the last period (TBL scoring in the 2nd). Should've finished them of in the third, but decided to finish the job in OT. Maples had 41 shots, compared to Tampas 32. Could Maples start to claw their way of the bottom? I don't think so.

Atlanta Thrashers 5-4 Montreal Canadiens
An extremely close match. Thrashers took an early 2-0 lead. The score at the end of the second was 3-2 (to Thrashers). Canadiens piled on the pressure, and secured two goals, but so did the Thrashers. 1 goal decided this one. Thrashers took 30 shots to Canadiens 38.

New York Rangers 1-4 Vancouver Canucks
A fantastic match for the canadians. They took an early 1-0 lead. The second period was quiet. The third is were the excitement happened, with Chris Higgins tieing the game in the third period, when out of nowhere came 3 unanswered goals. With the amount of injuries the Canucks are facing at the moment, this is a fantastic win. They've also catapulted to 8th, a couple of weeks ago being in the bottom 10. The record still stands aswell, Rangers not beating the Canucks at home since 1997.

Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3 Anaheim Ducks
The match that i was most interested in (for obvious reasons). Ducks took an early lead, an indication straight away that the Ducks wouldn't be a walkover. They completed the set, scoring a goal each period. Thankfully, the penguins awoke in the 2nd and 3rd, bagging 2 goals in each. the last goal came with 10 minutes left on the clock, so Pens were lucky Ducks didn't snatch a last minute goal.

So, Pens stay top of the table, although interestingly, Buffalo Sabres have 5 games in hand! If Sabres overcome the odds and win all these matches, they'll shoot straight for the stop. Although they're doing well at the moment anyway, being in the top 10 5 games behind. They're a team to watch.

PREDICTION
The battle for the top in the next week or two is going to be between Sabres, Pens and Avalanche. Avalanche IMO won't last too much longer near the top, Pens have already had a bad run at the start of the season, losing to the Maple Leafs twice, Sabres are potential darkhorses.

GAMES TONIGHT
New York Islanders vs Buffalo Sabres
(a win from Sabres could be the start of their road to the top)

Washington Capitals vs New Jersey Devils
(i expect a win from the Devils tonight)

San Jose Sharks vs Columbus Blue Jackets
(Should be an easy win for the Blue Jackets)

Carolina Hurricanes vs Florida Panthers
(a basic win from Hurricanes is on the cards. Panthers are doing dreadful this season)

Calgary Flames vs Dallas Stars <--- ONE TO WATCH
Should be a very interesting match up. Flames have not been on form recently and need a win. Stars have been relying to much on overtime, and need to finish off the flames in the third if they have any chance of securing a win.

More from me tomorrow! :D

Flyers beat Tampa Bay Lightning 6-2 last night. As predicted, it was the most exciting match.

Edmonton Oilers lost out to New York Islanders 3-1, with Islanders securing all three star selections.

LA Kings were dominant against Phoenix Coyotes and pulled away with a 5-3 victory.

TONIGHT

Boston Bruins vs Detroit Red Wings<---- One to Watch
(should be a fantastic game of hockey and is the only meeting between the two this season- watch this one!)

Tampa Bay Lightning vs Toronto Maple Leafs
(TBL should win this, springing back from their defeat yesterday)

Atlanta Thrashers vs Montreal Canadiens
(Would expect Thrashers to win after their defeat to the Habs 2 weeks ago)

New York Rangers vs Vancouver Canucks
(On paper, an easy NY win, but the fact is that NYR haven't won away to Canucks since 1997, so i'll plump for a Canucks win)

Pittsburgh Penguins vs Anaheim Ducks
(Obviously the team i support. Will be a tough one, the mighty ducks of Anaheim should never be underestimated, even if they are 26th).

It really is an amazing city and certainly well worth a visit. Me and Mrs DL were that impressed that we're returning for two weeks next year, so will try and book my game tickets before this time:-)

Hi SC,

Just returned from a brilliant week in Boston, Mass. Did have an enjoyable visit to The Bruins and to Fenway Park (Red Soxs). Got one or two bits of memorablia. Didn't quite manage to see the Patriots live, but watched a game live in one of the Malls:-)

Recent scores:
Boston Bruins 0-1 New York Rangers
I was dissapointed about this match, as Bruins were dominant throughout, laying home 29 shots, in comparison to Rangers 23.
Henrik Lundqvist snatched his first shutout of the season.
It was the return of Marian Gaborik that saw Rangers go up 4:09 from the end of the second period. A close match that in my opinion, went the wrong way.

San Jose Shark 5-1 Carolina Hurricanes
A complete slaughter. Nabokov, Marleau and Thornton (Sharks) took the 'Three Star Selections'.

Columbus Blue Jackets 5-4 Washington Capital
The big news is the clash Ovechkin had with Torres.
The Capitals had a 4-3 lead in the third, until Torres hammered home to 2 to give the Blue Jackets the win. The Blue Jackets have sprung back after their defeat to the Pens.

Colorado Avalanche 0-3 Vancouver Canucks
What was set to be a walk in the park for Avalanche turned into disaster. Luongo missed out, but Raycroft secured a shutout, saving 18 shots. Kesler, Raymond and Glass scored goals; one coming in each period. The Canucks, surprisingly, and literally, shut out Avalanche. Just when people we're spectating as to wether Avalanche were challenging the Pens, the fire is perhaps already dieing.

GAMES TONIGHT
Tampa Bay Lightning vs Philadelphia Flyers<--- One to Watch
Edmonton Oilers vs New York Islanders
Los Angeles Kings vs Phoenix Coyotes
