Is it worth doing? Smedlos you're my accountant what do you think? I believe 3 times I've been late with a payment and because of that I end up over my limit. So Barclaycard charged me double, £24 no payment and £24 over limit. Of course they're ridiculous charges and it's incredible it's taken this long to stop them.

Last time was in May when I forgot to pay before my holiday. The time before that, I paid the bill but the day before the due date which apparently wasnt enough time for them ¬_¬

So yeah I've given them £144 of my money that could have paid off half my creditcard bill. I'm sure I still have all my statements around somewhere.

Anyone else had these stupid charges? Oh and before you ask yes I'm on direct debit now. =P

Okay I'll give it a go =) turns out it was just £120 in charges but interest makes it £131.75

If it goes to court, Smedlos I trust you'll represent me =) and if I end up in prison I'll come back to haunt you.

No wait that's not right =/

Looks good, if you harrass big firms with this they will usually pay up.

NTL in my opinion are a very very poor company and after we switched to Sky they kept taking the direct debits and caused us about £100 worth of bank charges (OK I know I should have cancelled the Direct Debit but we had so much going on with moving house I forgot) so we sent them the bill to pay along with something along the lines of this and they paid up without fuss.

Skimming the article it looks like if they do fight the only cost to you should you back down would be the court fee so if it's a big amount I think it's worth fighting (by the way I'm a qualified accountant not lawyer so if you take my advice and it's wrong you can't sue me :P)

By the way a tip if you do online banking - most banks offer a facility online where you can set up a direct debit to pay off the minimum amount on your credit card each month incase you forget to pay it by the due date. You can then choose to pay off part or all of the balance before the due date to reduce the interest incurred.
