I find it appalling that both nvidia and ati have set upon the cheapest dirty tricks campaign in the graphics card world. Have a look around bet you cant find a 6800 ultra or a x800xt AGP (PE) edition. Why cos theyre not going to make them thats why. A memo was sent out today saying the line is discontinued on the 6800 ultra front so all you pre order folk ordering on SR are shafted. Now im fully aware that when a line becomes discontinued on a shopping site its just the salesmans ploy to get rid of the old pre orders while saving their own ass. But now its generic to both ATI and NVIDIA cards across the whole of the net. Save for some BFG 6800 cards which are out there with dodgy bios.

THe fact is unless youve got PCI express youve got 2 hopes of getting a 6800 ultra or an xt800xt and one of thems called Bob.

nice to be told all this six months down the line and trying to get in touch with some woman who only works 2 hrs a day to kill your finance deal.

NVIDIA toss ATI toss what a bunch of bankers.

I would say that makes sense, most of the retailers waiting for X800XTs dont even have due by dates yet, the situation has been like that since the cards were first announced. By the time they do get them in stock if they ever do, ATI and NVDIA will be releasing gap filler cards with upped performance.

Nope no proof in writing but if you want an agp version of the 6800 ultra youd better find the minimal stocks that there are out there because you wont get one this side of christmas if at all. pcworld component centre had BFG cards in stock, theyre reputedly a freindly card but some folk have had problems with flicker. Same goes for x800xt PE and there is proof of that as in a press release.

Any proof? I've just been in touch with the people I've got my XFX 6800 Ultra ordered with and they claim nothing of the sort.

Damn right they are. If youre one of the lucky ones who has managed to obtain an x800xt PE with all 16 pipelines working then theyll be like rocking horse doo doo. The same goes for 6800 GT and x800xt pro's having been overclockes successfully with upgraded bios. I think there will be more of a market for the 6800 gt's with upgraded bios mostly due to the fact that its basically the same design structure as the ultra but with slower clock speeds, then again its all a matter of choice... dont want to enter an argument over which is best as theyre both damn good and the average punter couldnt tell the difference on his green screen monitor anyhow.

Besides ive already bought the waterblock for the 6800 series fromm coolercases.

Indeed. Ebuyers most hilarious excuse was "a typhoon has delyed the plane setting off". It didn't take long before I lost patience and told them to stop closing the enotes and stop f'king around lying. Got the Sapphire X800 XT Platinum Edition from Hong Kong, no tax charges and for £380 including an overclocking and tweaking utility that costs around £30-40, a Full Special Edition Doom 3 game fully retailed boxed on 3 CD's and Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow.

Damn! Im glad I cancelled my finance order from a certain online re-tailer and plumped for a VIVO X800 PRO instead which is now happily whistling along with 16 pipes.

I had waited for a good 2 months before that though.

I have an X800 XT Platinum Edition. Got mine from Hong Kong a couple of months back after having one on order for 6 weeks on eBuyer.

Even got my FX 53 last week against all odds. I do agree though, the quality of the hardware is fantastic, just a shame they don't market it.
