Due to Goatboy's recommendation of Darren Orinofsky's Requeim For A Dream, I purchased this Region 1 title from a web-based importer.
I don't think anything could've prepared me for what I was about to view - this is one piece of disturbing viewing.
Basically, the film shows the effects drugs have on people, they're not shoving the "Don't do drugs!" message down our throats throughout the film, what the director is doing is showing you how easy it is to become an addict and the effects it has.
A superb film! Highly Recommended!

I watched this though and just thought "Yeah? So?"
His next one "Gummo" was just being outrageous for the sake of it.
I think Kids should be recommended for portraying modern teens in a realistic way, but I still felt it was exploitative in places.
Chloe Sevigny did an awesome job though, what a fantastic ending.
Good call, I forgot about this one.
Overall the film is exelent and would recomend this film to anyone who likes films with substance, storline and reality.
Well...PS2 for Uk, PC for USA.
Good quality.
The Requiem DVD rocks, the menu with all the static etc really gets you into the movie I thought.
Yeah...the ending.
I think what got me about it was with Marion, despite all she went through, she gets her fix and smiles because she can get high.
That smile after so much degredation...made me realise just what people will go through to get their fix.
Ellen Burstyn should have won the oscar for her role, not Juila Roberts.
What a sad, loney old woman, I felt really bad for her.
"I like how I feel, I like wearing the dress and getting up and looking forward to the day...I'm alone Harry, it makes me feel like somebody"
What a powerful, moving and scary film.
Goatboy, you got a multi-region player?

Not the right word, but the easiest to write.
It's a hard, hard film eh? Not massively graphic, but stays in your mind for a long time.
We all stumbled out of the cinema afterwards not really able to talk about it.
Intense, harrowing, moving, disturbing, frightening and realistic.
