Currently looking at an AGP card, haven't upgraded my mobo yet.

Would I be right in assuming that the 6800 (not Ultra or GT) would be the best choice?

both LE and standard can unlock to 16p, the LE's chance is only marginally smaller. Overclockability depends on the individual core you get, most LEs and 6800s overclock to pretty much the same speeds.

what you have to bear in mind is that all 6800s use exactly the same core so one model isn't necessarily more overclockable than the other. There are probably some 16p LEs that overclock better than Ultras on the core (obv not on the memory)

I think they have about the same chances of unlocking to 16 and 12 respectively, but obviously the chance of unlocking the LE to 16 pipes is a lot lower than the 6800 unlocking to 16 pipes.

But the 6800 can both be unlocked to 16pipes. Not sure if thats the same for the LE. I assume that the 6800 can be overclocked better that the LE?

6800LE = 8 pipes, 300MHz
6800 = 12 pipes, 325MHz

Stock there's quite a difference, though you can softmod both to unlock the masked pipelines and they tend to overclock a lot as well. My friend's LE is at 412MHz, 12 pipes.

you chose a crap time to buy an AGP card. A month ago 6800GTs were £160. Poor.
