Anybody know what might be the problem and how I can solve it?
Thanks in advance.
Drive not working checklist:
1. Drive is properly connected with appropriate leads.
2. Drive has appropriate jumper setting according to the cables in IDE bus.
3. Drive detects and shows correct details in BIOS.
4. When booting to your operating system, check drives are set up correctly and have relevant drivers installed in Device Manager (Windows) or similar.
5. Use a lens cleaner on the drive.
6. Check for a firmware update from the drive's manufacturer.
7. Test drve in another machine if possible.
8. Replace drive!
Then it might be the lens. Have you tried using a lens-cleaning kit on it?
