A lot of games...lets take Zelda for example! I know that before games werent advanced enough to play the game and make things like main characters grow, as in the Ocarina of Time you should at least be able to watch him grow or something or get older and not just go back and forward in time, or would that ruin the game.
I'd say that he should grow up throughout the game and then he goes back and forth in time with the master sword.
And other characters in the game all they do is stay in one place and never think or feel differently and just say the same thing.
They should at least have different feelings each day or throughout the game or do something normal where you actually see them work, or go a different route.
Like the woman who lost her cuccoos in Kakariko village, all she does is stand there and cry, in stead of getting to gether and looking for them or at least help you!
Same in all of the RPG's and Platformers and any other games that have this problem.
I know that there is one game that comes close to eradicating this problem which is Animal Forest and I am looking forward to that. And the GameCube with its advanced extra memory discs be able to handle this!
What do you think should stuff like this be taken into acount when creating games.
I'm all for more Fantasy RPG games they are my favourite types of games I just think that they are great the way they are except for a few things that could be spruced up a bit!
God how many times to I have to explain what I origianlly meant.
My fav game ever is Nights... one of the most original and unique games ever... flying through 3d worlds with fantastic bosses and the like...
Sonic
to simulate something!
And games like I said that were about someones like Link's life could get a little more realistic but not in the same way as the Driving simulators and sports games but like they move about more kind of thing thats all I meant by that anyway.
And Fantasy games are already very unrealistic in the graphics and the way things happen and in my point of view they are my favourite against the boring life-like simulator F1 games.
But if they got any more unrealistic they would be pointless and strupid.
What I mean is not graphics wise or what world it is set in or what inventions or customes that are used but the way people act. Whereas befor all they did was stand there and say the same thing over and over, they would have a bit more variation over what they say and they move about more but still to a rough routine and everynow and then take a different route.
But I dont mean to do things like we would every day or anything just a little bit more vaiation in props and backgrounds.
They would still be the same old Final Fantasy storylines and Zelda games but with backgrounds that dont always look a little blurry and always the same but if they have trees they can sway a bit and maybe you could make your character walk a little way into it but not make it so much like a brick wall.
And the characters you speak to say something different every now and then but the original subject can still be brought up.

That is not quite what I mean I had trouble putting down what I thought.
I meant that RPG's that are like someone elses life like Zelda:Oot where he could grow up in the game, but after that he could go back to being 7 yrs old then back to 17yrs old that is all I mean, so it wouldnt completely ruin the game.
And a little bit more realism in other characters in the game like they go home after a certain time and they move around more or they could get hurt by your weapons.
I dont want games to suddenly become real life either and games like Mario and Conker it would ruin the game if that happened.
Just games or RPG's that are based around a real life like Link's.
It was just a thought anyway!
Games obviously are becoming very realistic, but for every advantage of this, there is a disadvantage.
Games take a long time to come to release anyway, if the developers had to spend more time on the realism then the game could take years for a final delay, and then turn out to be 'just another' first person.
I was thinking a few days ago about re-releases, I thought the only game that was deserving of this would be Goldeneye, the amount of posibilities are endless.
The graphics and visual elements could be improved no end, the artificial intelligence could become so much better then it was on the 64 version.
Just think Guards actually talking to each other, instead of giving you the easy option of a mass killing.
Everything could visually make it a better game, Rare wouldn't have to change the engine of actual base levels or script just improve apon the graphics and other little bits, more realistic guns could be included; different sounds and noises, the actual fire that stays after and explosion...etc
The list goes on and on, but because this game has already been properly made and successful, would there be any point? Would you buy it?
Visually there will always be a difference between a game and reality, because if there wasn't the world would be a very strange place. Realistically gaming is becoming such a fast market that one day we will have the games which we choose soley apon looks and this will be the end of great gaming in my opinion.
All games of the future are going to be made solely dependent on the visual display (graphics et al). Games will lose there sense of 'do anything'. People will but the game because 'the screenshot and video was stunning'.
Maybe not in the next few years, but after that gaming is going to become a different experience for all of us who have had the current consoles.
Thanks
er-no
I think games should not get more realistic. I enjoy games because they give me something that I can not get in real life. What I mean is if you want games to be more realistic you can say goodbye to characters like Mario because they are not real, are they? Not only that but we would also have to say goodbye to the beautiful game worlds, because they are not real.

It is wrong of me to keep saying bad things with Shenmue because it was infact a great game, and one that will stay in the minds of gamers forever.
Another thing is that you wouldn’t have as much fun with First Person Shooters because as well all now, if you wanted to realistic you would die within one shot, as that is what would happen in real life.

With Big Brother being a hit, you can’t blame for game developers to make a game that consists of what you do in real life because everyone seems to be loving it today. Maybe I am the only gamer that thinks games are better off being non-realistic. I would be heartbroken to see all my favourite non-realistic games to stop coming out just because everyone is craving over “life like” games.
If we do start having games that get more and more realistic this will cause a huge demand for excellent graphics in order to give people the impression of being in real life. I know that what makes a good argument is where you give good and bad points about both sides of the argument, but I can not think of anything for realism. I suppose that it could attract more gamers, the ones that have no life so instead have to play games to keep in touch with real life.
Okay, that was a little harsh, but I am a harsh guy. I speak my mind.
Anyway, I suppose a good point for realism is RPG’s will benefit somewhat. RPG’s, in some way, represent a little real life.
