Works great in CSS2 browsers, bu not IE (obviously). Anyone got any ideas, preferably quick n simple.

Not quite what you're after but it can easily be adapted. Scroll down to the DOM-based scripting to the rescue part.

Nevermind, found a CSS solution which worked.
