Quick question that my step daughter asked me and one I can't seem to find the answer to once I got as far as I knew.

Hard drive storage sizes or mass storage sizes like NAS and SANs.

Step daughter asked me what or how does the size of the hard drive increase and what are they called .. so I reeled off the usual.

1 Byte

1 Kilobyte

1 Megabyte

1 Gigabyte

1 Terabyte

1 Peta (flop or byte?)

1 ????

Anyone know the last or has this not been reached yet?

Ah ha .. mucho grassyass :)

I don't think there's any hard drive that's near a Terabyte on it's own, plus I wouldn't think that was a good idea in itself, most SAN or NAS's employ the use of multiple hard drives to make the huge amounts of storage space that we're talking about here. :)

Yeah, a flop is the number of floating point operations carried out each second. Can be used as a basic (but not always accurate) way of showing a machines speed.

1 Zettabyte = 1024 exabytes
1 Yottabyte = 1024 zettabytes
