This morning after checking my emails and having 1 good email and 21 bits of spam I thought I would try to do something about it.
In the past I have read many good reports for Robin Keir's free K9 application: http://www.keir.net/k9.html
This application sits between your email client (I use Outlook XP) and your POP3 email provider. See website for details...
It's very easy to install taking only a couple of minutes.
I'll let you know how I get on!
Does anyone else here use or have any experience of K9 ?
2 spam emails not identified - I've marked them as spam.
0 normal emails marked as spam ;¬)
I've created a rule in Outlook to send all the spam to a spam folder.
So far so good...
First spam email received not picked up by K9.
Using K9 I have marked this as spam. K9 apparently has a leaning period. Over a period of time it's accuracy is supposed to improve.
Throughout the afternoon another 6 spam emails were all correctly identified by K9 !
Normal email is being received normally.
K9 gives you the choice to use a "DNS Blackhole list" from www.spamhaus.org http://www.spamhaus.org/ I've turned this on and 3 of the spam emails have been correctly identified using this service.
So far things are looking good...
> its probabley because your e-mail is on this site.
Thanks snake10 - I have many accounts with numerous domains I manage. I know more than I want to about email harvesting etc...
I'm really after finding a decent application to help me manage the situation.
