Everyone knows that the Gamecube is better than the PS2 and the X-box but there are rumours of Nintendo canning the Cube because they think it my flop and they can fall back on the GBA which will out sell the PS2 and the X-box.
If the Cube does come out it won't do as well as it could because most people will not be bothered to wait for it( and if they want a DVD player aswell they won't get the Panasonic cube because it look like a microwave!).
From what I have seen most GC games beat anything thats around at the moment. Games will come round quicker than the N64 and most know that they will be quality, whatever is released. I have great faith that Nintendo will get the GC right and it will be a major factor in the next generation market - Sony should be aware of this and it will be great watching the competition unfold before us!!

Actually, although I think the GC will not flop (quite the opposite), being last can be disasterous if done badly.. like with the N64. Not only was this released after mnay delays, but it only had one games at launch in japan (mario), and 4 games in total 3 months later!
To add to this, Ninty specifically said that at first only they would be allowed to release games, with more developers following. They obviously didn't notice that the Ninty name didn't really hold as much ground after the PSone launch!

When the N64 came out, it wasn't that the Playstation was any better that it was more successful, but the "cool" Sony advertsing that made it that more appealing towards consumers. Nintendo never matched that scale of Playstation propaganda, and subsequently lost the sales battles.
Unless Nintendo are prepared to seriously plug the GC, it doesn't matter when its released because it will always be dwarfed by its competitors.
It is being released before the Xbox, as previously stated, at is more affordable too.
The comparisons with the N64 are just not valid here.
Nintendo have worked hard to produce development kits that are relatively easy to work with so third party developers will be keen to work on it. Already they have plenty of 3rd parties developing games for them.
The format allows for more. Some developers found the capacity of the cartridge format restrictive. Nintendo have rectified this by abandoning cartridges and using discs.
There are more games to appeal to the 'more mature' gamer, such as Resident Evil 0, Eternal Darkness, and Too Human.
There are plenty of innovative games that will appeal to a wide variety of gamers, such as Luigi's Mansion and Pikmin.
So I have no fears for Nintendo in the 'next generation'.
But, being behind in releasing a console is not a bad thing. It gives the company time to makes sure that it can't flop, making sure it is the best that it can be.
And it also gives the company a chance to see how well other consoles before it do, to see exactly what their up against.
At the moment, the PS2 is the only 128-bit console out there, and has done well so far, selling about 10 million consoles worldwide. It may not have many stunning games out for it at the moment, but there are lots of stunning games around the corner, which should give the games of Xbox and GC a challenge.
The Gamecube will be a success, basically because Nintendo know what they are doing. They have learnt from their mistake of making the N64 cartridge based, and have now gone for the CD format, which is much cheaper. They will face stiff competition, but they could easily prevail.
