In this film fan's humble opinion we will never find a film that manipulates the viewer as subtlely as is possible. Why? Because if a film manipulates you effectively then you don't even have a clue about, therefore you can't point out what would be the greatest example of manipulation.

Having seen the Sixth Sense on the recommendation of a friend, I worked out where the plot was going after 15 minutes. No it was not rewarding at the end when I was right. Equally I found The Usual Suspects could be figured out about halfway through the film. That leaves one of the best endings so far, though I admit to being inebriated while I watched it, Arlington Road. For me this film had one of the best twists I've seen for a long time. I was wondering if anyone wanted to share their views or recommend films with particularly unexpected twists..... DON'T GIVE THEM AWAY THOUGH!!

I have to say, I have no idea what you are talking about with the manipulation comment in your first par.

Perhaps I'm thick :)

Exactly. The key to enjoying a film and being suprised by an ending is to compose your mind so you think that Big Brother rules and 5*5 = 13. Then you become dumb and are easily entertained! Best films are viewed like this.

your right sixth sense was very good and had an incredible ending to it.
I think unbreakable tried to recreate the same effect but didn't succeced.

Unbreakable was a good idea but was very rushed and was just not believable. Arlington Road is the best twist I've ever seen but that kid at the start i think made everyone a bit edgy, works though.

I think I know what you mean - I worked out the twist in the Sixth Sense half way through the fil and it didnt have the same effect on me after that!!
