It was a couple of years ago, I taped it off the TV, but never got around to watching it until the other day.
Bjork stars, Lars Von Trier directs.
Bjork is a Czech woman in America with her son - she's going blind, and works every hour to make enough money to stop the same happening to her son.
that's no spoiler, just the basic outline of it, and the opening premise.
It's a horrible film - great story, well told, but really, really horrible.
The fantastic thing about Bjork's character though, is that she's obsessed by musicals - and with her eyesight fading, hears lots of rhythms to help her get by in her day to day life. And from these come bursts of song, as the film almost becomes a musical itself.
Anyone else seen it?
