Is the premiership getting boring?
Is money ruining the game?
Whether you agree or not it maybe fun to suggest some changes to the system that has served us well for the past 14 years.
. The transfer cap. A suggestion which will work for the future but will need the support of football internationally. The idea? No more than £30 million spent a year. Maybe more, maybe less. The idea will mean the top clubs could really be anyone because there are a large number of clubs that can afford £30 million in players. The problems? Well this will have to apply internationally to avoid the premiership losing the top players and, of course, it doesn't really work for today. It means Chelsea's 300 mil team cannot be matched until their players get elderly and retire.
. The wage cap. Again this will require an international deal, but preventing too high wages will stop only the really big clubs getting the really big players. But isn't this bullying teams like Chelsea and Arsenal?
. Wenger suggested today a extra way of gaining points. And this could be ideal. Wenger's suggestion revolves around gaining extra points per game. This is technically a solid idea but perhaps this should be acchieved at the end of the year.
The team that has scored the most goals in the season will gain extra points. As will most clean sheets. Least goals against. Top player of the season. Extra points for game of the season. etc... etc...
This could get silly so will need restraining but, in a Mario PArty type way, this could keep the premiership exciting.

How about a point for a draw and 2 points for a win.
If you revolve the league around a points-per-goal basis, then losing a match 9-6 is better than winning a match 5-0...
I think awarding points here-and-there for goals scored, goals not conceeded and what-not could cause absolute chaos for the game, given that after the Premiership, it would most certainly catch on throughout the rest of Europe and then across the entire globe.
It's nonsense and I can hardly see it changing much in the way things are now anyway. The team's who score goals are always the ones at the top anyway - and it's the same thing with teams at the bottom end; except, of course, they're on the recieving end of those 6-1 defeats.
Perhaps it could, instead, go towards some European/worldwide ranking system - yes, like FIFA's international set - if such a thing isn't in place already?
What about the cup and latter European games for example - where, then, is the extra incentive to kill a team off, rather than to sit back on a 1-0 lead by the skin of your teeth?

Surely, that still gives teams to incentive to push forward even in a game that looks 'destined' to finish all-square with no goals; if only for that one, extra point that could make ALL the difference come May.

Of course the premiership is boring if one team dictates it and it is a race for second place.

Hmm... When they're being paid that much, I don't think they can complain that the worst part of their job is when someone calls them boring....

Agreed. And I think it's a little cruel on the players in the Premiership who work so hard to produce such drama. These players play at the very highest level in the fastest pace league. It's a bit rediculous how someone like John Terry works so hard all career to captain Chelsea to their first league title in 50 years and then has to answer suggestions that the Premiership is boring.

Four points for a win would probably increase the gap between the top and lower teams, though.
I think an extra point for every goal is also a bit excessive, but perhaps some bonus points for scoring a certain number of goals?
