A little peeve I've had for a while is the fact that Football Manager 2005 is so loud that it drowns out iTunes when I'm listening to my dear, dear podcasts.

So I was thinking - can you control the volumes of different programs seperately?

Not as far as I can see. But I don't see why, it shouldn't be too hard. For a progammer. Anybody know of a program that does it?

By uninstalling RealONE. And, no, it doesn't have a volume slider. I've checked many a time...

Also - use MediaPlayerClassic rather than RealONE, it still has a theater mode and, well, less spyware and annoying "features".

It'll probably be in the Options > Audio menu of the game, if it has one. Most games allow you to change the volume of the SFX and music seperately in the game, seperate to any other applications.

On a similar note, can anyone tell me how to get round a particular volume irritation with Real Player on my PC? Whenever I play anything in RealPlayer (not often, but occasionally), when I change the volume in RealPlayer, it effects the volume of everything including the system sounds. Why? How can i stop this?
