Looking after my Brother's for a week, the damn thing was jumping all oevr me, going straight for my food, just misbehaving. And that's not on. So I've been doing stuff you see on those "dog-whisperer" shows - ignoring it, being over-harsh with punishment - it works! Dog won't come near me now and sits on the floor when I'm eating. It has no teeth left, but I see that as a bonus. (not really)

Dogs will do anything for food, they'll even abandon their own mother. I have to lock my dog out the garden when eating.

The ignoring thing can work a treat. Dogs are pack animals and they need to know where they are in the pecking order - a dog that thinks it's the boss is far more stressed than a subordinate as they're constantly trying to assert their authority and remain "on top", whereas a dog that know it's lower down the chain is a happy dog.

I read a book about it a couple of years ago and it did wonders for me and my pooch.
