We'll see who has the last laugh.
:D
his first game back was the champs league group stage game against fenerbache.
Sven shouldn't go, yet. He is tactically poor, however, leave mclaren in charge of that. What about greece? on the back of triumphing at euro 2004 they come home and lose there next match 2-0 at home to andorra.
Also, no way should allardyce be the next england manager, yes he has worked wonders with bolton, but that is his game, not managing england. If we do get a new manager, it shouldn't be mclaren, we would need a totally new setup. Curbishley? No way. The next england manager should be one of: Stuart pearce, who really nows his tactics, how to inspire a team, how to win and most importantly, He's as ugly as sin, so he won't go sleeping with FA secretarys. Or, harry redknapp, one of the most underrated managers in the game.
Under Eriksson's 4 years reign, how many different players have we seen make the England squad?
Admittedly, you've got to question the value people like Micael Ricketts and Owen Hargreaves have added to the squad (if any), but we've got a selection of the best centre-backs in Europe, some oustanding midfielders with versitility and strikers who can certainly score goals.
And now David James looks finished with, our goalkeeping worries are no longer of any great concern.
Even if Sam Alladyce was to walk in now, I doubt we'd be capable of winning in 2006. 2008's a strong possibility though, so long as we get a new manager in charge. Someone with ambition and brave, attacking ideas. A man who can motivate and get the very best out of each and every player. A man who knows what he's looking for, and in reverse, would know how to play a selection as a winning team.
That man, is most certainly NOT Sven-Goran Eriksson. Beckham and Owen have spoken out to try and calm this whole situation so things don't go completely out of hand with two games to go. After all, we do have a very young squad right now.
But you can't play to win every game one-nil. As one of top ten international sides, we can't be seen as a team that sets out to defend, as we do.
I watched the Brazil - Chile game on Sunday and well, Enlgand struggled to beat Northern Ireland and Brazil walloped Chile 5-0 without Ronaldinho in the team and without Ronaldo even looking like scoring for the one half he played.
Just got to get rid of the Sven first.
