I've always rated Salgado as one of the best in the game, behind only Cafu and Zanetti. Seriously, if he goes to Juve they'll just be tooo good. No need to play AWFUL Zebina either
sigh
I hope Moggi's right :(
Kovac is just a versatile substitute.

As I understood it, Puyol plays centre back for Barca and left-back for Spain. So he doesn't come into the right-back debate. Salgado is good, although Luxemburgo is obviously going for an out and out Brazilian style, so Cicinho will be the first choice. And Diogo can cover. Plus Sergio Ramos. So I suppose Salgado is surplus to requirements.
He may even be at Juve, as well. I imagined that they'd be using Kovac and Cannavaro in central defence, with Thuram moving to the right. If they get Salgado, Kovac will probably be on the bench.
Puyol dares to stand up to peer pressure and say NO to combs and i for one respect him for that :-D
Come Michel. No more Agricola spiking the Paella any more...
*preys*
Puyol's fantastic and he's not going ANYWHERE.
Recently he's been more of a centre back though, which is why I didn't include him
There's nothing overrated about him - he's extremely fast, technically excellent as well as being a great captain and an excelelnt reading of the game.
Though, not quite up in the same class as Javier Zanetti and certainly not as highly as I rate the legendary Cafu. :)
I really don't understand what people see in Carlos Puyol - he's just been very fortunate in his career. There's nothing outstanding or exceptional about him, if you ask me. Salagdo's still the best right-back Spain have at the moment, if you ask me (unless, perhaps, he's retired from the international scene?).
I still would've seen a move for Puyol more likely than the signing of Salgado, regardless. It's the way these things seem to work today.
Where has Salgado been these last couple of years though?
