Alright, I'm bidding on an item and it says I haven't reached the reserve price. But is that calculated by how much you bid or the current price of the item. Just wondering because the current price & 'reserve not reached' writing is in the same colour which usually means there connected.

Surely not. That'd be really unfair if someone had bid over the reserve, i think my description is right...

Never done that. Honestly I only bother to bid when 'unpopular items' come on cos everything else goes for over it's value

Well, how much do you use eBay, if it's not often, put in an insane bid which will show you the reserve, then go to "retract bid" saying you put in an extra 0 by accident or something.

When I sign out it says 1.04 for the next bid which would point towards the reserve not being met. When I asked the person how much the reserve was he said 'half the retail value'. When these haven't been made in years and are imported it isn't much help

Yeah, i was goign to put in teh minimum bid possible and see what happened, because if the starting price is only 99p, then it'll only be something like 1.10 I'd have to pu tin, and if it hasn't yet met the reserve, then it's not going to raise the price for you anyway.

I think the system may be screwin' up cos I don't want to put in an insane amount incase the reserve is low but with no other bidders the price isn't rising, hence you can't really tell whats going on

It's been a long tiem since I bought anything from an auction - I tend to just "Buy It Now", so i've probably forgotten something.

That's not happening. I put in a bid of 99p, £10, £20 and it's still on 99p.

Btw: I'm trying to beat the reserve, there is no other interest
