Dunno how many of you on here know about this, but it's a new single seater series which has been dubbed "The World Cup of Motorsport".

Basically there are 20 teams, each with one car - all cars and engines are the same spec - and the teams each represent a different country. This means that their sponsers and drivers have to come from their country.

Still with me? If not, more info can be found on the official site http://www.a1gp.com

Anyway, the point of all this is that the first round is on at Brands Hatch on the weekend of 23/24 September - and I've just ordered myself some Grandstand tickets.

Unfortunately the Pit Pass had all sold out - maybe next year.

So, is anyone else going?

I'm not sure about the Silverstone prices. I'm pretty sure they've changed since I last went.

I'm not sure who the drivers are for the Al teams. I assume Scott Speed would be in the US one or at least trying for a drive in the US one.

I'm a little disappointed if Minardi sell up. Sure, we get 4 Red Bull cars and a more congested midfield but I like Minardi and Paul Stoddart. Paul Stoddart certainly likes to shake things up.

Travel can add up to quite a lot.

How much is a ticket for Silverstone nowadays? I've reads on ITV's site that tickets for next years British GP are alreayd on sale, at discounted prices. Didn't bother to look into it more though.

As for the A1GP, Scott Speed has been testing the US teams car, so I wonder if he's lining up for a race drive for them?

Reports are going round that Red Bull is thinking of buying out Minardi - as they have too many drivers and not enough seats!

I haven't been to an F1 event since the rain soaked 2000 race at Silverstone. £40 is still a bit much when I throw in travel expenses too and I don't have anyone else who would want to take me down there.

Should be a good series though. All the cars are the same so it's driver skill in the end that should win out.

It's only 40 quid for a sunday grandstand ticket - which is significantly cheaper than somewhere like Silverstone!

I've never been to a race before - mainly because of the price - so I'm quite looking forward to it.

Also, as the cars don't have any electronic driver aids, and the cars etc are all standard, the racing should be quite close. Fingers crossed anyway!

Yeah, I've heard about it. Surprised? :D

I can't say I've thought about going to an event. Couldn't afford it anyway. I'll try and catch the races on Sky Sports though.
