In another thread I mentioned about helping out a family friend with their website for a restuarant.

Looking for a decent webhost that isn't too expensive and that has a good reliable service and that offers the common stuff like e-mail addresses, php/mysql support, ftp access etc.

Any suggestions?

Having a UK site hosted outside of the UK is also a bad thing on the Search Engine front as the SE's use the IP address to identify the physical location which they then go on to use when people select the "pages from the UK" options...

Never been a fan of US based hosts, prefer to use UK ones knowing there's someone there during UK office hours for help & support. The only real advantage to using a US host is the price, they are a lot cheaper than the UK for "bang for buck", you just have to remember the time difference if something goes wrong.

Yeah, but can't mention it here. You're on MSN aren't you? A certain Arctic theme, Iceman? Or is that someone else?

Thanks!
Thank you for dealing with this so promptly it's nice having a service provider that offers a good service, rare to find nowadays.
Wonderful...
... and so easy-to-use even for a technophobe like me. I had my website up in a couple of hours. Thank you.
