A scene-by-scene breakdown of the latest demo of the PS2's Best Game Ever...
First came scenes from the first game of Liquid Snake in prison and Shadow Moses Island. Next was a fast-cut reminder of the demo then came a new boss sequence featuring a new girl character called Fortune whose weapon of choice is a huge electric railgun affair capable of blowing holes in the boxes Snake is forced to hide behind.
The destruction of scenery during this scene was amazing. Parts of the ceiling collapse, a fork lift truck is slowly destroyed as it gets caught in the crossfire and smoke sparks and light fill the room each time Fortune lets fly with her remarkable gun. Next we saw Revolver Ocelot offing a bloke with a knife (and the resultant shower of blood) then a US commander briefing his troops to be careful down in the ship's hold at the feet of Metal Gear Ray. While Snake watches on Revolver makes his presence known to the band and orders in his troops (fresh from their victory on the upper decks of the ship) to seize this last band of resistance. Snake steps in only to be baffled by Revolver calling him 'brother'. 'Liquid?' he asks. We are then reminded that the third brother (Solidus) was the President of the United States George Sears (43rd President in fact).
Next we see the hold filling with water and Snake wading waist-deep through some amazingly realistic liquid. Ray bursts out of the hold and stands astride the ship, Godzilla-like, while we see a sunken Snake drift to the bottom. Is he dead? Nah, he can't be. The penultimate scene shows Snake reunited with the Ninja, though this appears to be a new Ninja with a slightly different suit but equally deadly skills. The two square off but no blows are exchanged.
Finally the title MGS2 appeares and we see Snake stood at a junction of corridors. Suddenly a panicked guard runs past followed by a huge mass of frothing foaming water! Snake wisely makes a run for it too pursued down the corridor by the approaching tidal wave. Snake passes the camera while the water catches us, splashing the lens before the foam whites the screen out.
Awesome.
*******
From what I can gather, I don't think it is an actual playable demo like the one we have been treated too recently, anyone have any info on this?
Cheers.
It's cool
