I've currently got a subscription to McAfee Anti-Virus and Personal Firewall, but I am also an NTL customer.

NTL are offering free anti-virus and firewall software to their customers in the form of NetGuard.

Basically, my question is - when my McAfee subscription expires, should I switch to NetGuard?

Does anyone know if either is significantly better or worse than the other?

Cheers.

I wouldn't touch it because I know of two people who did, and it seemed relatively ineffective.

Both people had issues with their machines, and when I directed them to McAfee's FreeScan, that found and removed several viruses which AVG did not detect.

Why ??? I use it and recommend it!

Hope you're not getting confused with Grisoft's AVG (Good) and a dodgy virus called Anti Virus Gold (Bad).

Zone Alarm is an option - I used to use it all the time.

I won't touch AVG with a barge-pole, though.

If you've got XP SP2, you might as well use the built-in firewall. It's good enough for personal use for most people.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.

Nothing but admiration. I have been complimented on the church site that I manage through you and everybody thinks I am an IT genius. Your support is unquestionably outstanding.
