Hi I'm poor, so I wanted a free anti-virus software. Does anyone use the AVG Free Edition and is it any good? Or perhaps you use another free program?

Thanks guys

I use it and think it's very impressive. It auto-updates regularly and reliably, and has functions like a mail scanner and shell integration.

I downloaded it a few weeks ago. I have yet to see it detect any viruses at all but that's probably because I dn't have any, hopefully. It auto-updates itself. Because I haven't seen it detect a virus yet I can't realy comment on it's performance, but personally I'd prefer a different user interface. It's ugly!

See here for other nice programs to try if you need to.

You may want to have a look at Avast 4 Home Edition, it's got the usual email scanner etc but it also has a download scanner so if you use Kazaa (heaven forbid) or WinMX, LimeWire, Emule etc it scans the download and warns you of any viruses .. which is cool.

Have a look http://www.avast.com

I use it all the time. No free scanner beats it and it's debatable whether any paid scanner is better either.

AVG scans downloads as well.
