Also, the storylines, in both Atlantis and the SG-1, don't have the same sense of urgency which made wrapping up of episodes great.

The replicators came back and there was a evil Sam Carter. Daniel Jackson got kebabed and they mashed them all with an Ancients weapon.

Season 8 was fine, has some good moments. Whereas Season 9... oh lordy. The first few seasons seemed realistic (in a sci-fi way); using mythology and all that to form the basis of a plot. However ridiculous it sounded, the explanation was mostly plausible. That all changes at season 9.

The first season of Atlantis was much better than season 8 of SG-1.
There were too many filler eps in SG-1, and it lost a lot with O'Niell being sat behind a desk.
