My bro is looking for a new digital camera for when he starts his Architecture course in September, and our current one is a little out of date to say the least. So if you could pop and old thread, or start recommending cameras in the £150 price bracket, it'd be mucly appreciated.

I just had a look at the Kodak CX7530 5mp, which was £110. I'll go and look at the 6mp one...

Edit: I think I'll go for the CX7530, reasonably cheap 5MP camera, with loads of modes etc. Only thing I worry about when buying things like this is battery life. Our previous one was totally rubbish, but I suppose you can always get a Ni-Cad pack for it.

Edit2: I wonder if it has a webcam mode :S

I got the Kodak EasyShare DX7630 a few months ago, and would highly, highly recommend it. 6mp for under £150, and has a great range of features.
The only 'bad' thing is that, as standard, you have to take the battery out to recharge it - no straight-cable or docking thing included, and it doesn't come with a case, but that's no poor reflection on the camera itself.

No problem, but if someone could bump a few old thread, i might be able to use them for comparison.

I would help, but all the (heaps and heaps) of information I put up on here was aimed more at the £200+ range.

Sorry.

Nothing wrong with looking for tried-and-tested models.

I currently have a Sony Cybershot P92. It's great and all, but if you use the flash, it's quite slow at resetting for the next picture to be taken. The battery life is also crappy too.

I'm not really helping here :D

Cheers, tho' I'll probably end up getting something based on a number of peoples experiences with a certain camera. As far as I remember a few people on here had bought similar cameras...

There's a new Pentax camera, 5MPixel, that you can use underwater. Looks nice for a waterproof.

I think that's in the bracket you have in mind, but I'm confident there are better non-waterproof models available, since going underwater to take photos isn't all that common. Would be great at a coral reef though.
