I've been away for two weeks on holiday. I come back to find that Ellington has been sold by Wigan to a team with "West" in the name - but Eurosport.com seemed to think it was both West Ham and West Brom. Fill me in. He's in my fantasy team, it matters. But I can't access the site at the moment for some reason.

And Kanouté has left Spurs for Sevilla? Oh happy day. What a wastrel. Mido/Keane over him any day.

And King is injured, another fantasy team headache. And Heinze didn't start - whathowwhen? And Filan too is injured. Someone tell me it'll all be okay, please. But transfer news first.

Milan Baros is the best striker on offer at the moment that they could get (Mikey would never go to Newcastle), and they can blatantly afford him and outprice Lyon/Villa in the wage department.

And I think Luque will come, he's been left out of Deportivos team at the weekend and he's agreed personal terms.

On the subject of strikers, I read that one of my pre-season relegation candidates, Portsmouth, are on the trail of nearly-extinct Chelsea reserve bench-warmer Carlton Cole.

At long last, he's been thrown a lifeline!! :D

And once again, Newcastle (will probably) miss out on the chance to bag another bargain-priced player who can get you goals! What is Souness gonna do now then? Does he really think they have any chance of landing Luque? Is he really worth it? Is a ten-goals-a-season man really gonna do the job??

Back onto Cole, briefly, I'm still surprised Aston Villa have done nothing, with the chance than Lyon may now nick Baros, having met the higher bid and all, apparently.

Here are some of the players Newcastle have already missed:

Andrew Johnson - signed new contract with Palace.
Clinton Morrison - wants to leave Birmingham, looks set for Norwich?
Dean Ashton - one of the best in League football for several years now, fully deserves his chance in the top-flight. Impressed briefly last season. I am very, VERY surprised no-one's been after him yet!
Fredi Kanouté - off to Spain. :P
Carlton Cole - Portsmouth-bound.
Rob Earnshaw - unhappy at West Brom following Ellington's arrival.

I really don't see Souness' problem. Freddy Shepherd clearly has money to spend - look how much they were willing to waste of 'El Whinio' Anelka. And now, it's Luque. You could get TWO of these players for that money - perhaps even three, if you're lucky.

After warming the Stamford Bridge bench for well over a year, I never would've though things could get much worse for Scott Parker, after Chelsea. :(

Chabi Alonso, my friend. Already worth a lot more than we paid for him.

Where did all this crap about Liverpool selling Cissé originally come from, anyway?

Oh, don't tell me... The Sun/Daily Star/one of those "papers". :P

The guy's only recently recovered from a horrific injury, he's getting back to his best again and is building up quite well after a promising pre-season. He's probably the club's second biggest asset, for crying out loud!

Baros is as good as gone - that's what Benitez has told us from his options ON the pitch. But you'll see Steven Gerrard in a Tranmere shirt this season before any possibility of Cissé leaving actually arises!

In the system we seem to play at the moment, we could afford to sell all of them. Rafa knocked his head and forgot what a striker is. He confuses them with Momo Sissoko now.

"Ole, yes, today we play 4-5-1, with Sissoko as the lone Momo Sissoko."
"Erm, Rafa..."
"Yes, Milan?"
"That's wrong."
"I'm selling you."

I like Morientes. Crouch they could do without though. And I heard Liverpool might even consider a bid for Djibril from Olympique Marseille, although I don't think they can even afford his boots at the moment. Might allow Mikey back if they got rid of Baros too though.

I'm still in a nightmare that began when Rafa thought "Peter Crouch? Hmm...". I'll wake up soon and find out he signed Figo, Andrade and Mikey Owen instead, sold Morientes and kept Baros.

Earnshaw and Ellington on the bench for the lowest placed non-relegated team last year. This is a dream, I'll wake up and the Wigan-Chelsea match will have ended 2-2. Ellington and Roberts will have scored for Wigan, and each getting the assist to the other's goal, and Del Horno and Lampard will have scored for Chelsea, same assist arrangement. Plus my Chelsea players will have done so well defensively that the guys at Fantasy Premier League said "Go on, you deserve these clean sheet points anyway."

Don't think he even got on at the weekend. Horsfield scored twice, and started with Kanu. Earnshaw, Kamara and Ellington battling it out for the bench spots.

You'd think Robbo would spend some money on a godawful defence.
