Yes, I agree ISS on PS1 has given us the best football experience to date, and I can't wait for the next PS2 version. The only thing that lets it down is the lack of playing proper club leagues as in FIFA.
Why doesn't someone do the right thing and make the ultimate one player game. It was tried before, and my excitement at release was unbearable. Unfortunately, Libero Grande was absolute rubbish.
What I would like to see is a game where you are one player, who would start playing as early as little league (with an option to start later on) whose career would progress depending on your performances. If you weren't much good you would progress to Sunday league, but alternatively you could go through club youth ranks, reserve and onto 1st team football. There would be transfers so that you could play for any club in the world, with the full club leagues, UEFA cup and Champions League, playing for your national side in the World Cup.
I know the chances of this becoming reality (well it becoming reality and being any good) are remote, but surely someone can see the potential.
Konami - please adapt something where the one player game is the priority rather than a little add on to a great game.
