Ok. I'm in real need of help here.

I bought a GeForce 6800GT the other day, particularly for Battlefield 2. I had a Radeon 9600 before, and had to play with pretty much everything on low in a 1024x768 res to achieve a decent fps. It only stuttered occasionally, eg when there were a lot of things happening etc.

1.4GHz Athlon
768MB PC2100 RAM

The massive problem is this.
Playing on medium settings with my 6800GT, the fps rate is awful. Just...awful. It stutters all the time, and quite badly. I get something like 20fps throughout the game. It's basically unplayable. If I lower the res to 800x600, there's no change. If I lower the settings, there's no change.

I got a score of about 9028 on 3dMark03

When I do the stress test on CS Source, I get an average of about 53fps.

What in the name of christ is going on? Even though my CPU will be limiting it a bit, it shouldn't mean that the performance is worse than my old 9600. I'm using the latest drivers etc etc etc etc

No idea. When I replaced an mx200 in an old PC with a 9600 I had similar problems.

I couldn't give you the techincal jargon as to why though.

Well, that's that idea gone out the window.

Hmmm, what about AGP settings. Is it set up for 8x?

What power supply have you got?

My brother had the same problem recently. He upgraded from a 9600 to my old 9800, however needed to buy a new PSU as his wasn't powerful enough.
