Since the topics about GT3 and Project Eden, I have noticed that release dates for games in America seem to be on a Tuesday. Is this a coincidence, or are all games released on Tuesday?

Most games in Britain are released on the Friday, but DVDs on the monday, why`s dat?

Lastly, other dates (no names :-) ) had GT3 down for a Sunday release.

Whats going on? Are we going to run out of days, and have to create new ones?

Films are often released with a Thurday night preview, opening at cinemas on a Friday.

But as far as I'm aware games have always been released on a Friday here.

Film rentals also come out on a monday. Having games out on the friday means that most people can have a good play untill the early hours of the morning. Then get up late saturday play on the game and then again on sunday. So you have a whole weekend playing on the game.

With a film or album you will normally only watch the film once in the week at night and maybe listen to the album a few times in the week.

According to the head office of the company I work for ( Someone from our store actually asked this same question in the last feedback we did ) it's because having all the new releases for games, CDS, DVD's etc on one day would be counterproductive as most people will only spend so much money. If you go into a store and see, for example, a new DVD and a new album as well as a new game , then its harder to decide. Having games come out on a Friday means they only compete against other games. Another thing is that the Friday release day is an old throwback to before games were recognised as 'entertainment' products, Monday has always been the new release day for entertainment products and it wasn't until the Playstation and N64 that they really became entertainment products.

Bet you're all bored now :) Hands up whose thinking "whose this boring newbie waffling on forever?"

In America they are released on a Tuesday usually I think. But they also can be released any day. As America is so big it can take a day or two for some shops to get the games so they may ship them out on Monday for release on Wednesday. We always get games on Friday nearly every game is released on a Friday. So GT3 will be released on a Friday. SR has GT3 down for a Sunday but that would not be possiable as nobody would ever release a game on a Sunday.

Japan gets games quite abit on a Saturday as they got GT3 on a Saturday.
