Shame, I respected him in a way I did few politicians.
It's odd, he's one of those guys where it makes you feel sad, but it feels like he wasn't a big enough figure in your life/perception to justify it.
And by yours of course I mean mine.
It's worse for him though.

Not being heartless. I understand why he left the Government, but there's not a lot he can do from the outside. If he was so opposed he could have kept his job and campaigned and still had his job now, instead of spending his days walking - which it now turns out is really bad for you.

Now he's dead, everybody loves him. What a shock.
He acted with dignity and honour in his handling of the Iraq invasion, and for that alone he got my respect.
