I remember when Quake 1 was new and watching it on TV game shows, that Quake had normal, smooth animations. But when I finally got into PC gaming in 1999 and bought myself a late copy, I found the various monster animations to be jerky in-game. Kind of like 3D models with 2D sprite animations. Was Quake ALWAYS like this (my memory is fogged) or is it todays modern hardware somehow screwing up the game? I'm sure it wasn't... After all, Quake 1 was released at the same time as Golden Eye so there was no need for such primitive animating.
