I know they're 2.1 speakers, but they plug into the computer just like stereo speakers - they only use one green speaker out jack. They're all connected to the subwoofer in the middle so you only need one plug on the back of your computer.

Depends what you're after. Do you want loads of power or would you prefer very articulate sound reproduction? And how much are you looking to spend?
